Girls - who will your man be spending his money on this Christmas?

Girls – be afraid, be very afraid. A recent survey has revealed that more than three quarters of British men will be focusing their finances and affections on someone else altogether this Christmas. And a brazen 24% even admitted that this someone meant more to them than their wives or girlfriends.

But before you start checking his phone for text messages or reinforcing your handbag with lead piping we have to tell you that the fight is already lost – you can’t hope to compete. This object of undying passion for so many of our men folk is their car. Yes, we know it’s sad – but according to eBay Motors who polled over 1,000 of the little darlings, it’s an immutable fact.

Apparently, while they’ll spend an impressive sounding £1,066 over the course of the year on their other (better) halves this pales into insignificance compared to how deep they’re prepared to dig for their cars - £2,426. Shame on them!

Think how many bottles of Chanel and sets of raunchy undies that could net! Still, you have the satisfaction of knowing that you’ll look one heck of a lot better in Christmas stockings than that heap of metal and rubber outside would (we sincerely hope, anyway!)

And if all this weren’t insulting enough, 26% admitted that under no circumstances would they allow their women behind the wheels of their car. What cheek! Exactly who is it again that are statistically proven as the safest drivers? Who commit more than 95% of all traffic offences? Little clue – it’s not us!

There’s really only one thing to do – beat them at their own game. And since (shall we say it again – a little louder this time!) women are by far and away the safest drivers on the road (as any company specialising in female car insurance will attest to) that means we have more money in our pockets to lavish on our own cars. Safer drivers get to pay lower car insurance premiums freeing up more cash for go-faster stripes and steering wheel covers (if in a million years we could imagine wanting to spend money on things like this!)

We’re not at all surprised that men choose to spend so much money on their own cars – and we can see no reason why women can’t do exactly the same thing with that little bit of extra cash in their pockets from their great female car insurance deals.”

So, if he’s itching to find a new Xbox under the tree this year maybe the time is ripe to extract a little revenge. Xbox style modifications on your own beloved car – it’s your call. Just be prepared for all those tears under the tinsel (tee hee!).
